IMS was established in Eisenbach (Germany) in 1863 and has operated in the design and manufacture of gears ever since. In 1983 a new factory – for the production of plastic gears – was opened in Donaueschingen (Germany). In 1995 and 2000 new factories were also opened in the U.S.A. –in Gainesville and Virginia Beach.
The biggest plants are the two in Germany which employ a total of 900 people and cover areas of 15,000 m2 in Eisenbach and 29,000 m2 in Donaueschingen.
The factories in the U.S.A. (covering a total area of 7600 m2) employ about 80 people. Production is concentrated on planetary gearboxes, which are available from size 22 up to 120 with torques up to 300Nm.
Thanks to its long history and vast experience IMS is now a firmly-established leader in the design and production of planetary gearboxes.
Around the world
In addition to its plants in Germany, IMS also has factories in the U.S.A. in Gainesville and Virginia Beach.
